IAC’s 10th Annual Nowruz Festival was celebrated on March 24, 2024 at Bill Barber Park, Irvine Civic Center. A variety of traditional folk & Cultural dances by various artists and dancing groups and a broad cross section of Iranian musicals from different regions of Persia was performed. With over 3000 attendees, many danced and sang to the tune of peaceful and inspiring Nowruz.
Cyrus The Great Performance Team played yet another powerful & at the same time emotional coronation of the Founder of Iran by his wife, Queen Cassandana after entering Babylon, freeing slaves and proclaiming the first known declaration of Human Rights and its inherent Freedom for all as “…Truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal…”
Our national father’s proclamation of Freedom as a pillar of Human Rights, came more than 2500 years ago, yet inspired, founding Fathers when writing U.S. Constitution. Benjamin Franklin, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, the main author of the constitution had 2 original copies of Xenophon’s Cyropaedia in Greek with his own hand writings on the side in Latin. On his deathbed, he gave one copy to his grandson to consult whenever he needed help in life. Another copy is preserved at the U.S. Library of Congress. As Iranian-American we are proud that our True Culture has been an inspiration for the founding fathers who wrote the U.S. Constitution.
The IAC Nowruz festival celebration of Persian new year has always been an all inclusive & open to public event with Iranian-Americans and other nationalities participating. Many high ranking elected officials, from, County Supervisors, mayors to council members as well as Orange County sheriff and State and Federal authorities attended the Festival or sent their message of Nowruz for peace and prosperity to Iranians and other nations who celebrate Nowruz.
The IAC wishes you all the best in Persian new year & hope to see you in our next festival of Nowruz.
